Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
