Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from March of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
